Severn Valley Railway at War

It's the summer of 1941 and the Severn Valley branch of the Great Western Railway is busy carrying war materiel, troops and civilians.

The branch line between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster is being used as a diversion route so as to avoid the industrial areas of the West Midlands.

All the stations along the line show the signs of WW2, with information notices advising people what to do in the event of an air-raid or warning them to look out for Spivs selling black-market goods. Keeping morale high, live music is played at main stations along the route.

However; the Germans have plans for this line and attack in force at Highley station, where a pitched battle rages while a Spitfire flies reconnaissance overhead.

This is the Severn Valley Railway at war, 1940s weekend........
